Short answers, with sources
These are the questions people ask most often when they search for a Plaud alternative. Each answer is short on purpose, and the longer reasoning is on the page linked in the answer. Prices and specs were checked on September 29, 2026.
What is the best Plaud alternative in 2026?
There is no single best. For a like-for-like press-to-record device, Pocket is the nearest, with a free software plan and a lower listed hardware price. For always-on capture, look at Legend One or Omi. For the lowest price, Bee Pioneer is listed at $49.99 for US iOS users. Limitless is no longer sold.
Is Plaud still worth buying?
Yes, if you record scheduled conversations and press the button reliably. Plaud says it has sold more than 2 million devices, and its NotePin S page cites over 2.5 million professionals.
How many free minutes does Plaud give you?
300 transcription minutes per month with every device, according to Plaud's shop page.
How much are Plaud's paid plans?
As listed on September 29, 2026: Pro is $8.33 per month billed annually with 1,200 minutes, and Unlimited is $19.99 per month billed annually. A per-seat Team plan is also listed.
Does the Plaud NotePin S record phone calls?
No. Plaud's FAQ says it has no vibration conduction sensor and does not support phone call recording. The Note and Note Pro are the models with call recording.
Does Plaud keep my audio?
Yes. Plaud's pages describe keeping the original recording, with summaries built alongside it, and syncing to a cloud account. It also states that recordings are not used to train AI models.
Is Pocket a Plaud alternative?
Yes, and the closest one in behavior. Pocket has a side button, a 64GB device, and a free plan with unlimited standard-accuracy transcription. Its Pro plan is $19.99 per month billed yearly.
How is Legend different from Plaud?
Legend One is always on, shows a Halo light while it transcribes, and never creates an audio file. Plaud records audio on a button press. Legend is $499 including the first year of membership and $499 per year afterward. See the full comparison.
Does Legend cure or treat ADHD?
No. Legend Memory says Legend is built for people with ADHD, is not a medical device, and does not manage time or start tasks. It captures and summarizes speech.
Is Friend a Plaud alternative?
No. Friend is a companion necklace. It talks back and is not built as a notes or memory tool.
Can I still buy a Limitless Pendant?
Not new. Limitless said it stopped selling the Pendant on December 5, 2025 after Meta acquired the company, and committed to support existing customers throughout 2026.
Is it legal to wear a recording wearable?
It depends on where you are and who you record. Federal law allows recording with one party's consent, and about eleven states generally require every party to consent. The Reporters Committee and the Digital Media Law Project both explain the rules. This is not legal advice. See the buyer guide.
Who runs this site?
The team behind Legend Memory. That fact is in the footer of every page and explained on the About page.
How often do you update prices?
We re-check prices and specs against the makers' pages and list the date on each page. This edition was checked on September 29, 2026. Prices change without notice, so confirm at checkout.
Something missing?
If you think a fact here is out of date or wrong, the fastest way to fix it is to check the maker's own page, which we link at the bottom of every page. We correct errors when we find them and change the date at the top of the page when we do. We do not use star ratings, sponsored placements or invented quotes, and we do not accept payment to change a comparison.
If you are shopping right now, start with the buyer guide, then open the spec tables, then work out your own numbers on the costs page. Those three pages answer most of what people need to decide.
A few questions we get that need more than a line
Should I buy a Plaud because so many people have?
Scale is evidence that the product works for a lot of people, and Plaud's numbers, as reported by TechCrunch, are real: more than 2 million devices sold. It is not evidence that it works for your case. A device that suits a salesperson recording calls may be the wrong fit for someone who wants to capture unplanned conversation at home.
Do always-on wearables record everything?
It depends on the product. Legend transcribes to text and does not keep audio. Bee is reported to listen continuously unless muted. Omi's page title says always listening, while its privacy section says capture is something you start and that anything captured can be deleted. Read each maker's privacy documentation for what leaves the device and what is stored. Our spec tables mark where a maker did not state it.
What happens to my data if the company is sold?
It depends on the company and its terms. The Limitless case is the recent example: after the Meta deal, existing customers had to accept updated privacy terms to continue, service ended in several regions on December 5, 2025 with a short window to export data, and other customers were promised support through 2026. Export your data regularly from any wearable service you rely on.
